The MOD's Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELC) is an initiative to promote lifelong learning amongst members of the Armed Forces. For further information on eligibility, please consult the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service website.
In the event that ELCAS approve an application to study a NEBOSH qualification, lists of NEBOSH Accredited Learning Partners by qualification and geographical area can be found in the ‘Where to Study’ section.
However, not all NEBOSH learning partners in the UK are also approved by ELCAS. Applicants will need to check that their chosen NEBOSH learning partners is also approved by the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service. Further information can be found on the ELCAS website.

NEBOSH Qualifications are made up of different units, learners achieve marks for each unit. Upon achieving the pass criteria of all units in a qualification being completed these marks are then added together to calculate the grade achieved.
The grading structure that NEBOSH use is Pass/Credit/Distinction. The marks required to achieve each grade vary depending on the qualification. The grade bandings can be found in the Syllabus Guide for in the Qualification Section under the appropriate qualification or on the reverse of your Unit Result Notification (URN)

What modes of study are available?
NEBOSH publish 'Standard' Examination dates on our website. These examinations dates available to Learning Partner who wish to hold their examination on the dates set by NEBOSH.
We do understand that these dates are not always suitable for all learners and Learning Partners, therefore NEBOSH offer the facility for Learning Partners to offer on demand examinations, set and marked by NEBOSH but held on a date chosen by the Learning Partners, who would be happy to accept external resit learners.

When can i resit my certificate level qualification?
Unit results are shown as a Pass or Refer. The unit mark is included in your Unit Result Notification (URN) letter.
On completion of all units within a particular award all marks will be added together to reach the overall results of pass, credit or distinction.

NB: Based on latest information available (as of June 2016), NEBOSH qualifications are not currently eligible for ESFA funding in England:
- The ESFA does not normally fund “qualifications which are linked to licence to practice or more generally intended to meet an employer’s statutory and/or legal responsibilities” (such as health and safety)
- The ESFA normally only funds qualifications recognised in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). NEBOSH qualifications are recognised in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Our regulatory obligations only allow us to issue one unit certificate per unit achieved and one qualification parchment for each qualification achieved by a learner. If we do need to re-issue a certificate or parchment, the original is no longer valid. Multiple copies of the same certificate cannot be issued.

The Enrolment periods for NEBOSH Diplomas starts from the date you enrol, this is usually the date of your first assessment. Upon completion of your first successful unit, your enrolment start dates then becomes the date of the first successful unit. This unit is then valid for 5 years.
Should you be unable to complete your qualification within a five year period, you will be able to apply for an extension to a unit’s validity period, through your Learning Partner, if you meet the following criteria:
- the enrolment period must be active and the learner must have a least one unit with a ‘Pass’ status. The application must be received by NEBOSH no later than 20 working days before the unit is due to expire but no earlier that 12 months before the unit is due to expire
- a timetable for completion of the qualification must be included.
- supporting evidence must be provided which shows why the learner was unable to complete the qualification and needs an extension to the validity period of a unit(s) eg, medical evidence.

It is important that you discuss your requirements with your Learning Partner to ensure that the most appropriate adjustment is applied to meet your needs. If your request requires a physical change to the examination script, your Learning Partner will need to ensure that the request is received prior to the examination closing date.
It may be possible for you to change your examination venue, provided it is before the published closing date for that examination and your Learning Partner is able to accommodate you for your examination at an alternative venue.
