The Michael Adamson NEBOSH Diploma Scholarship supports academic and career progression for aspiring health and safety practitioners.
Since the scholarship was launched in 2021, 14 winners have been awarded paid-for study and assessment fees for the NEBOSH Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
The Diploma and this scholarship are designed to help learners develop the knowledge and practical application they need to succeed in the workplace, advance their careers and keep people safe from harm.
This scholarship is named in memory of Michael Adamson who lost his life in a preventable workplace accident in 2005. His sister Louise is dedicated to sharing Michael’s story and campaigning for better occupational health and safety. Further information about Michael’s story and the work Louise does is available on the Michael's Story website.
In 2022, nearly 1,200 applications were received from people around the world who want to continue their learning, develop their careers and positively influence workplace health and safety. The judging panel – NEBOSH Diploma holders Robert Jukes and Khansa Burai, NEBOSH’s Dee Arp and Matt Powell-Howard, and Louise Adamson, Michael’s sister and NEBOSH Ambassador – commented on the passion they could feel from every applicant; the commitment and care shown to protecting people in workplaces around the world was clear to see.
The winners were announced on 29 June 2022: NEBOSH announces 10 winners or 2022 Diploma Scholarship
