Increased demand for NEBOSH qualifications in India

The number of NEBOSH exams being taken in India has increased by 400 per cent in just five years.

The rise in demand is being put down to increased job prospects for NEBOSH qualified individuals in Asia and the Middle East, particularly in oil and gas and construction industries.

Stuart Naylor, NEBOSH International Manager explains, “India, alongside Asia and the Middle East has helped to establish NEBOSH as the global benchmark for excellence in health and safety – this means that an increasing amount of employers want NEBOSH-qualified staff.”

For Mumbai International Airport General Manager, Russil Kumar, NEBOSH qualifications are particularly important when it comes to recruiting more staff. He explains, “As an international airport, it’s especially important for us that our employees’ qualifications are recognised world-wide.

“This is why during the recruitment process of our safety department, we always look for the NEBOSH seal of approval.”

The UK-based examinations board NEBOSH has also seen a significant increase in demand worldwide, with more than half of exam registrations now taken outside the UK.

Stuart continued, “India is the latest country to experience a surge in demand for our qualifications which is why we’ll once again be attending and supporting this year’s OSH India conference in Mumbai.”

NEBOSH will be exhibiting at OSH Expo India 2013 event, giving employers, safety managers, training providers and officials the chance to learn more about its range of globally recognised qualifications, and the benefits they can bring.
The trade exhibition and seminar programme is taking place at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra in India between 16 and 17 September 2013.

NEBOSH is exhibiting on Stand B6. For further information about the OSH Expo India event, visit http://www.oshindia.com/common_register.asp?source=nebosh .
