NEBOSH couple graduate together

Monday, 16 July 2018

The annual NEBOSH Graduation and Awards Ceremony is a highlight for many people who have achieved a NEBOSH Diploma or Masters. For Linda and Edward Fendt, the 2018 graduation was particularly special as they were able to celebrate both of their successes together.

Wearing a cap and gown, the couple from Orpington took to the stage to be congratulated on achieving the NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management - the third NEBOSH qualification they have gained together.

Edward, Director of Health & Safety for WT Partnership, explains: “Several years ago I was studying for the NEBOSH Construction Certificate as part of my career development. Linda took a real interest in it and would help me revise. It reached the point where I said ‘you’re getting really good at this, why don’t you take the exam as well?’ So we took the exam and passed together!”

They both went on to achieve the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate before Linda decided to take a backseat while Edward advanced to a NEBOSH National Diploma and then a Masters degree as part of his career development. It was after this that they choose to study together again and achieve the NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management.

Linda, who works for CityWest Homes, adds: “We have always been interested in the environment and I have always wanted to study for a degree level qualification so we decided that it would be a great adventure for us to study together; I never imagined I would graduate and to receive my Diploma with Edward was incredibly special, even a little romantic!”

The couple made up the nearly 800 Diplomates, friends, family and course providers attending the thirteenth NEBOSH Graduation and Awards Ceremony. Held at the University of Warwick on 25 June, this year’s Guest of Honour was Martin Temple, Chair of the Health and Safety Executive.
