Wednesday, 17 June 2026
In a recent learner survey, 94% of participants said they would recommend the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation*.
The one-day qualification, jointly developed with Great Britain’s health and safety regulator, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), is designed for people such as supervisors, SHE champions, aspiring health and safety practitioners, employers, union representatives and anyone who is required to carry out effective incident investigations.
Learners gain practical skills to investigate non-complex incidents, gather evidence through effective witness interviews and develop action plans to help prevent recurrence.
As part of our regular review cycle, we asked hundreds of learners to share their feedback. More than 90% of successful learners said they would recommend the qualification, felt the practical assessment allowed them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding, and rated each area of the syllabus as ‘very useful’ or ‘useful’.
Based on this positive feedback, only minor content updates have been made, ensuring the qualification remains aligned with best practice while retaining the syllabus content, learning and assessment that learners consistently rate so highly.
Suzanna Robinson, NEBOSH Product Development Senior Lead, said: “Developed in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive, this qualification guides learners through the four steps of effective incident investigation, including the essential skill of witness interviewing. It empowers learners with the practical skills to confidently carry out unaided investigations into non complex incidents, adding immediate value to their organisation.”
Magimairaj Bose, Manager - HSE Compliance and Governance, Drydocks World, said: “I completed the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation qualification to strengthen my ability to identify the true underlying causes of workplace incidents and near misses. The training provided valuable insights and techniques that have enabled me to turn investigations into opportunities for engagement, learning and cultural improvement.”
