Enrolment policy and extension requests

Diploma Enrolment Periods

The NEBOSH Diplomas have a five year enrolment period.   NEBOSH will provide students with an annual update of their enrolment to help students plan their studies, examination sittings and assignment submissions.  It is important that this information is reviewed and a completion timetable is discussed with their course provider to prevent students being unable to complete their qualification due to their enrolment expiring.

NEBOSH does appreciate that there are some circumstances that prevent students from continuing their studies for a period of time.  To allow students the opportunity to complete their qualification NEBOSH does allow students to apply for an extension to their unit validity period*. Full details of the enrolment rules can be found in the ‘Enrolment Policy for NEBOSH Diploma Level Qualifications’, available to download from the related files on this page.

Please refer to this document to make sure that your students are eligible to apply. Requests cannot be accepted without evidence to support the reason for application and a completion timetable.

To apply for an extension students must contact their course provider directly to discuss their requirements.  If the course provider agrees that the student is able to complete their qualification within the extension period they should contact NEBOSH on the students behalf to request an extension.  Requests without consent from the student’s course provider cannot be accepted.

The online application form can be found at the side of this page.  On receipt of your application NEBOSH will acknowledge your request within 5 working days and confirm the outcome of your request within 20 working days.

The enrolment extension request (and Accredited Course Provider transfer request if applicable) must be received before the final date for enrolment for the relevant examination sitting/assignment submission.

*A unit is valid for five years from the declaration (the date printed on the unit certificate.)
