NEBOSH Diploma graduates celebrate their success

Three hundred and twenty eight NEBOSH Diploma students from all around the world came together at the end of June to celebrate their success at a graduation ceremony held at Warwick University.

Those who recently passed either their NEBOSH National, International in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Diploma travelled to the event from countries such as Azerbaijan, Ghana, Kuwait, Mauritius, Singapore, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, as well as all parts of the United Kingdom.

NEBOSH Chair Sir Bill Callaghan welcomed those who attended the ceremony, including families and friends of graduates.

He told them: “We are all part of the same noble endeavour - to prevent harm and to protect people. Your work makes a difference to the lives of those in your workplace, in your communities and in the wider society. That’s what we are celebrating today, so be proud of your achievement.

Those who gained the highest marks in NEBOSH Certificate and Diploma examinations were also presented with special awards at the graduation event.

Jamie Lewis, who works for project consultants Worley Parsons, achieved the highest mark for the NEBOSH National Diploma. Jamie combined his studies with responsibility for health, safety and environmental (HSE) issues on a project involving the redevelopment of Iraq’s largest oil field.

The graduation experience was fantastic, never mind the special award,” commented Jamie. “I’ve never been to a graduation ceremony before, so to be part of it, alongside my family made me feel very proud.

Since achieving his NEBOSH Diploma Jamie has been promoted from an HSE Senior Adviser to HSE Manager at Worley Parsons.

Credibility is important in my kind of role,” he added. “For example, it is essential that our clients have faith in our expertise and ability. Having a NEBOSH Diploma and achieving a ‘Top Candidate‘ award certainly helps in this regard.

Courses leading to NEBOSH qualifications are offered by around 500 course providers in more than 100 countries around the world.
