NEBOSH Diploma becomes first UK qualification recognised by BCRSP

Tuesday, 18 September 2018

NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) has secured the first UK qualification to be recognised by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety professionals (BCRSP).

In a new agreement, signed on the opening day of the 2018 CSSE Professional Development Conference, NEBOSH students will now have an alternative route to BCRSP certification.

Holders of the NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety will now be eligible for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) upon completion of the CRST examination.

For those with greater workplace experience and additional qualifications, BCRSP is offering a streamlined route to Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification for people with a NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Canadian professionals with CRSP status may now achieve a NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety without taking the relevant NEBOSH course, if they sit and pass the assessments.

Signing on behalf of NEBOSH, Chief Executive Teresa Budworth said: “This agreement will give our students the opportunity to gain certification in Canada whilst dual recognition by BCRSP and NEBOSH will make them very attractive to employers.”

BCRSP Chair, Kevin Dawson added: “This agreement is an important step toward international recognition and transportability of both BCRSP and NEBOSH credentials."
