NEBOSH and Bapco Energies launch stakeholder community to advance health and safety excellence in the Middle East

NEBOSH joined forces with Bapco Energies to launch the inaugural meeting of a VIP Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) stakeholder community, bringing together senior leaders from across the Middle East to drive progress in occupational health and safety.

Hosted at the Bapco Club in Awali, the event was co-chaired by Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, Acting Managing Director of Bapco Energies and CEO of Bapco Refining, and Andy Shenstone, Chief Executive of NEBOSH. The initiative aims to foster collaboration, share best practices and address the evolving challenges facing the region’s HSE professionals.
Dr Jawahery opened the meeting, which featured expert-led sessions on risk tolerance, human factors, lessons from the Bapco Modernization Program, NEBOSH’s strategic vision, EHS in higher education, the evolving needs of the industry and contractor safety. Industry leaders sharing their expertise included:

- Dr Waddah S Ghanem Al Hashmi, Federal OSH Committee – UAE

- Mr Hari Kumar, ENOC
The event also included a roundtable discussion on collaboration opportunities, how to ensure NEBOSH courses meet emerging regional demands and strengthening partnerships between industry and education.
Andy Shenstone emphasised the organisation’s commitment to the region: “NEBOSH is dedicated to supporting the Middle East’s HSE community with world-class qualifications and training tailored to local needs. This stakeholder community is a vital step in ensuring our programmes remain relevant and impactful.”
