Free NEBOSH webinar: OSH issues for artisanal and small-scale miners – the global challenge

Tuesday, 17 February 2026

NEBOSH is excited to announce a new webinar that will explore the occupational safety and health (OSH) issues faced by artisanal and small-scale miners around the world. The session, titled “OSH issues for artisanal and small-scale miners – the global challenge”, will take place on Tuesday 10 March 2026 at 10:00am (UK time).

Millions of artisanal and small-scale miners work in conditions that place their health and safety at constant risk, yet their experiences often remain overlooked in global OSH conversations. The webinar will examine the realities of this workforce, highlight the scale of the challenges they face, and discuss opportunities to support safer and healthier working conditions.

This webinar presented by Nick Pahl, CEO of the SOM (Society of Occupational Medicine) with Dr Richard Heron, IOMSC Co chair and Rose Wood, SOM international Co-ordinator, is part of the NEBOSH Social Purpose Programme. Through this programme NEBOSH aims to raise awareness of hazards, reduce risks and promote internationally recognised safety standards through research and advocacy.

This webinar is designed for professionals and learners working in:
- Occupational health and safety
- Public health
- Global development
- Supply chain and sustainability roles
- Any field focused on improving working conditions in high-risk or undeserved sectors

Registration is now open. Attendees will gain insight into the OSH challenges affecting artisanal and small-scale miners and learn about opportunities to support meaningful improvements in their health, safety and wellbeing. https://event.on24.com/wcc/r/5238930/398D65F1C26563FD3865999990DDAB7F
