NEBOSH qualification available in Turkish

NEBOSH has announced its most popular international qualification will be available in Turkish from 1st December 2012.

The development follows hot on the heels of an Arabic language version of the same qualification - the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC).

Turkish is spoken by over 70 million people worldwide. While the majority of those who use the language are located in Turkey, it is also spoken by groups in Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece and Northern Cyprus.

Like China, India, Brazil and South Africa, Turkey is a newly industrialised country (NIC), which means it has enjoyed rapid economic growth in recent years. It is now among the world's leading producers of agricultural products, textiles, motor vehicles, ships, construction materials and consumer electronics & home appliances.

“Occupational health and safety is a vital part of these industries, and standards have risen in Turkey as a result of its strong economic development,” explained NEBOSH Chief Executive, Teresa Budworth. “Following on from this we’ve seen demand for appropriate health and safety professionalism and qualifications among Turkish speaking managers and the wider workforce.”

“Our International General Certificate has become our most popular qualification worldwide, so it is now vital that it’s available in languages other than English.”

NEBOSH also offers its entry level Health and Safety at Work Qualification in multiple languages. This assessment can be taken in English, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese and Russian.

Courses leading to NEBOSH qualifications are offered by around 500 course providers in more than 100 countries around the world.
