NEBOSH shortlisted for three prestigious FAB 2025 Awards

NEBOSH has been named as a finalist in three categories at the 2025 FAB Qualifications and Assessment Excellence Awards, recognising its outstanding contributions to global education and skills development.

NEBOSH has been shortlisted for:

Learner of The Year – Champion of Qualifications & Assessment
Nominee: Partington Oswald Mtatabikwa, holder of two NEBOSH qualifications
This award recognises an outstanding learner who has made a significant impact in promoting qualifications and assessment within their educational setting, sector or more broadly. Through their dedication, advocacy, and practical application of learning, they have helped raise awareness of the value of qualifications and encouraged others to pursue them.

Partington, a survivor of a devastating mining accident, has transformed personal tragedy into a powerful mission to promote workplace safety through education and storytelling. Since beginning his NEBOSH journey in 2022, he has inspired tens of thousands across South Africa and beyond, using his lived experience and qualifications to advocate for a culture of safety, learning, and personal accountability.

Partington says: “This gesture is priceless and has challenged me to continue learning even more. I have realised that life never limits us, but we limit ourselves. We can keep on growing as long as we still want to, but if we stop growing, we start dying. I wish I had known this secret when I was much younger. However, there is no better time to start than the present, as long as we don't procrastinate.

“Above all, my nomination and shortlisting serve as a testament that disability is not inability, and I hope my journey inspires others to continue pushing despite all odds. Don't let anyone define your limits; define them yourself.”

Special Recognition Award
Nominee: Dee Arp, NEBOSH Chief Quality Officer
This award honours an individual who has made a substantial impact within their own awarding or end-point assessment organisation and has had a positive impact on the wider FE and Skills sector.

Through her work with NEBOSH, Dee has spent over two decades shaping the global health and safety education landscape through her leadership, innovation, and advocacy for accessible, high-quality learning. As President of INSHPO and a respected international speaker, mentor, and strategist, Dee continues to influence policy, inspire professionals, and champion lifelong learning across the occupational health and safety sector.

Dee says: “I am honoured to be a finalist in the Special Recognition category of the FAB Awards. My journey has only been possible because of the amazing people that have shared it, from whom I have learnt and continue to learn from, and who share my passion for lifelong learning and empowering people to be their best self.”

International Export of Qualifications Award
Nominee: NEBOSH
This award recognises an awarding organisation that has successfully expanded and delivered UK qualifications into international markets. It celebrates organisations that have demonstrated excellence in global partnerships, market impact, and the promotion of UK qualifications abroad.

NEBOSH has significantly expanded its global presence by tailoring qualifications like the International General Certificate to meet international standards, resulting in 75% of learners now coming from outside the UK. Through strategic partnerships with Learning Partners in over 50 countries, collaborations with global industry bodies, and targeted promotion in key markets such as India, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, NEBOSH continues to raise awareness and recognition of its qualifications worldwide.

Now in its 10th year, the FAB Awards honour excellence across the UK’s awarding and assessment sector. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 27 November 2025 in Milton Keynes.
