NEBOSH supports the right of Learners and/or Learning Partners to enquire about a result, to appeal against the outcome of that enquiry and has procedures to ensure that such enquiries and appeals are dealt with in a thorough and equitable manner.
If you believe that your result does not match your reasonable expectations, an Enquiry About Result (EAR) must be submitted by the EAR closing date, which is 20 working days from the results notification date of your examination.
Submitting an Enquiry about Result
- To submit an Enquiry About Result (EAR) please complete the online EAR application form. The form will redirect you to make payment for the EAR via debit/credit card. For current EAR costs please see the learner fees list.
- EAR applications including payment must be submitted on or before the EAR closing date.
- For On Demand examination EAR closing dates, see EAR Policy and procedures document.
- EAR closing dates for fixed date examinations can be found at the bottom of this page.
- Applicants will receive an automated payment receipt following successful submission and payment.
- Learners will receive an automatic EAR acknowledgement email, following successful submission and payment. This will include the EAR outcome date and EAR reference.
- Results will be sent to Learners on or before the EAR outcome date. The EAR outcome date is calculated dependent on the type of EAR you request.
- For Type 1 EARs, multiple-choice EARs and On Demand examination EAR outcome dates, see Enquiry about results policy and procedures document.
- Type 2 EAR outcome dates for fixed date examinations can be found at the bottom of this page.
- If your EAR is successful, you will receive a full refund of your EAR fee.

Submission FAQ’s
Question: I have entered my learner details on the form but cannot continue to enter my examination details?
Answer: The form will not allow you to continue to the next step if you have entered incorrect learner details, you have entered an invalid email address or if you do not currently have any units eligible for an EAR (i.e., you have no declared units within the EAR closing dates). Please ensure you have entered the learner number and learner first and last name correctly, according to your NEBOSH record. These details can be found on your Unit Result Notification (URN). Please also ensure you are entering a valid email address.

Q: I have entered my examination details on the form but cannot continue to make payment?
A: The form will not allow you to continue to the next step if you have not entered details of an examination unit which is eligible for an EAR. Please ensure you have selected a unit which you have received your results for. Please also ensure your EAR submission closing date is not in the past. See EAR Policy and procedures document for full details about EAR closing dates. EAR closing dates for fixed date examinations can be found at the bottom of this page. The form will not allow you to submit an EAR on a unit you have already submitted an EAR for. If you are requesting a Type 2 EAR following receipt of a Type 1 EAR outcome, please see the Enquiry about results policy and procedures document for details on how to request a Type 2 EAR in this instance.
Q: I have entered my payment details, but the payment has failed?
A: In order to make payments through our Worldpay portal you will need to ensure that the payment card you are using it set up to be 3D Secure compliant, something that your individual bank can assist you with. Please contact your bank and request that they enable this security level on your payment card and then follow the security requirements on screen when prompted when you next try to make payment.
Pop-ups must be enabled on your computer/payment device as quite often; the additional security prompts are provided by the bank via a pop-up so please do double check that these are enabled.
In addition, please double check the name and address you enter into WorldPay, exactly matches the name and address registered against the payment card.
If you continue to experience payment issues after checking all of the above, please contact [email protected] to advise us you have been unable to make payment via the form and we can provide an alternative payment method.
Q: How do I request a batch EAR via the online form? (Learning Partners only)
A: You cannot request batch EARs via the online form, please see the Enquiry about results policy and procedures document for details on how to request a batch EAR.
