NEBOSH and HSE to host an interactive session at Health and Safety North

NEBOSH will be exhibiting at this year’s Health and Safety North where delegates can join them for an interactive leadership session with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Research undertaken by the HSE has identified key competencies and behaviours that are associated with health and safety leadership excellence. The session will highlight what these competencies are and the audience will be encouraged to ask questions to gain greater clarity on how to influence health and safety performance and culture.

The session, titled “Achieving health and safety leadership excellence in the workplace”, will take place in the Safety Dialogue Theatre at 12 noon on 10 October. Host Matthew Powell-Howard, NEBOSH Qualification Development Manager, will be joined by two HSE psychologists.

The exhibition is the perfect opportunity to speak to NEBOSH about the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health & Safety Leadership Excellence. Launched earlier this year, this new one day course is aimed at senior or aspiring leaders who want to effectively fulfil their health and safety responsibilities. The qualification is based on the application of the HSE’s health and safety leadership values and students will learn how to apply them in the workplace.

NEBOSH Qualification Development Manager, Matthew Powell-Howard said: “There are clear moral, legal and financial drivers for improving health and safety and I’m sure many health and safety professionals will be intimately familiar with the benefits it can offer a business.

“For those at the top of the business hierarchy, competing priorities can mean that their time for health and safety is more limited. By partnering with the Health and Safety Executive, we’ve developed a one-day qualification which identifies the key values associated with health and safety leadership excellence.”

As well as the HSE Certificate in Health & Safety Leadership Excellence, you can also find out about a new qualification in incident investigation, due to be launched in 2019.

Find out more about both qualifications by visiting NEBOSH on stand N28 at the show, which takes place at Event City, Manchester on 9-10 October 2018.
