Service leavers

For the many thousands of people who leave the armed forces each year, a vocational qualification can be a helpful first step to a new career.

Service leavers have often gained valuable skills and experience that make them suited to a career in health and safety. It’s a profession that’s highly valued across many industries such as construction, chemicals and utilities.

At NEBOSH, our qualifications have supported ex-military personnel to not only enter the health and safety profession, but progress to management positions. They give you the knowledge and skills to be able manage a range of health and safety risks, keeping people safe from harm. Please visit our Qualifications pages to find out about the qualifications on offer.

Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) are used by the Ministry of Defence to sponsor Armed Forces personnel to improve their education and, in particular, to support them through resettlement as they move into civilian life. ELC funding can be used to pay for NEBOSH qualifications and approximately fifty NEBOSH course providers are approved to the ELC scheme. Visit the ELC Providers page for further information.

"Thanks in no small part to NEBOSH, I’ve been handed the kind of challenging position I’ve really been seeking as a qualified SHE professional.”
