What does the course cover?

The NEBOSH Health, Safety and Environment for the Process Industries qualification is assessed by one multiple choice examinations.

The course covers:

  • The foundations of process safety
  • Systems to prevent loss of containment
  • Common risks and controls in the process safety industry
  • Plant integrity
  • Emergency response
  • Hazards and controls associated with hazardous substances
  • Control of emissions
  • Environmental risk assessments (impact assessment)
  • The foundations of health and safety
  • The responsibility for health and safety
  • Health and safety risk assessment and control
  • Hazards and controls associated with work equipment
  • Transport safety
  • Hazards and controls associated with electricity
  • Fire safety
  • Hazards and controls associated with manual handling and repetitive movement 
  • Hazards and controls asscociated with the working environment

Students just need to take this unit to successfully achieve the qualification.

The HSEP1 unit can be used as an exemption for unit HSW1 of the qualification in Health and Safety at Work.
